I dont get it. Panel after panel of talking heads. Don Lemon: they dont like tRump, the criticize him relentlessly, but the discussions always hit a dead end when it comes down to speculating WHY tRump acts this way. Just saw a panel with Frank Bruni, Don and Carl Bernstein and they keep dancing around the question of what is motivating tRump. Hes normalizing Russian relations to take heat of the Mueller investigation. Hes incompetent. He doesnt understand. Etc, etc.
I dont get it. Even the most abridged Cliff note version of tRumps business career shows a man on the verge of ruin going hat in hand to Russia and rising from the flames of defeat. That condo, bought with Russian tied bank money and sold to an oligarch at a huge profit? It is so obvious that, piss tapes or not, tRump is deeply in hock to the Russian mob.
Why cant the media bring itself to speculate on the most obvious reason for tRumps obsequious behaviour? Its maddening...

(3,514 posts)After creating this thread I actually watched the rest of the segment I mentioned, and by the end Bruni was actually wondering is this president compromised?. So maybe the dam is starting to break. Still it seems obvious; any cursory review of tRumps checkered career points to a glaringly obvious Russian mob connection, and they are just now starting to use the rather mild term compromised? Oh well, its a start...

(59,940 posts)that so many just can't "go there" - why? Too horrifying to imagine? Too far a stretch for them? Or (tin foil hat) is something bigger and nastier under the surface and we the people can't be trusted with the truth?
These are far more than trying times...they are mystifying in how totally fucked up they are.

(3,514 posts)(Thanks for the link, Blaze), but I see NO mention of the Russians holding compromising information on tRump. Instead, Hurd uses the rather mild term influences and manipulates to describe tRumps weak stand on election interference, implying that it is tRumps inexperience or naivety that is driving this catastrophe.
tRump is a Russian asset, plain and simple. In addition to whatever compromising video material they have on him, he is probably deeply in dept to the oligarchs ie mob. Saying he is influenced or manipulated is pretty weak sauce.

(2,301 posts)I mean, there's nothing wrong with informed speculation so long as you label it as such. It's important to hammer these suspicious facts home.

(5,808 posts)In hock to the Ruskies, along with a large portion of the Republican Congress members, you gotta know these aces in the news biz have more than enough resources to figure it out. But they dance like a ballerina in Swan Lake avoiding the obvious. It is either way more sinister or complicated than any of us thought.....or they just need to fill their hourly spot for the network so they hash and rehash, nibbling around the edges without ever getting into a lively discussion of the Who, what, when , where and why of the matter.

Hillary was smart, capable and extremely competent and somewhat boring as a candidate, so the media didn't have the same incentive to cover her and her speeches, statements and tweets back in 2016.
