All these TV hosts, commentators and talking heads look exhausted.

After 18 months of tRaitor tRump's presidency, this past week seems to have just knocked the spirit out of them.

tRump's hound dog face is becoming contagious.

I'm currently watching Don Lemon on CNN. He has April Ryan, Bill Kristol and Rick Wilson contributing. They're all fatigued and exasperated, with red or puffy eyes, and bags under their eyes. The same was true of Anderson Cooper and Chris Cuomo - both overtired and frustrated. This presidency is taking its toll on everyone. The panel of The View is getting downright hostile.

I've read reports and can believe that psychiatrists are doing a booming business these days.

How many shows has Ali Velshi been hosting? Both of his own and he's covering for Chris Hayes. And I was surprised to see Gene Robinson back on Morning Joe after he weighed in on the evening shows, too. They're doing a good job, but it's got to be exhausting - there's a bigger and worse Trump scandal every single day, on Wednesday each one topped the previous one.

Though I think she actually enjoyed herself, she could pretty much say what she really wanted to. As for Obama and Trump, the only comparison is that according to the Republicans, Obama couldn't do anything right and Trump can't seem ti do anything wrong - or stupid or inappropriate or treasonous.

I manage it by limiting my 24/7 Breaking TV Infotainment News to no more than 10 minutes per day when I turn it on at all and that is becoming less and less frequent. They payed the false equivalency game during the elections, never covered Hillary's policies, hammered her over and over about the emails, and gave Trump billions of dollars' worth of free coverage. In fact, they have done very little over the years to serve democracy - little actual reporting, more reality TV posing as news.

They allowed him to tell lie after lie after lie and never corrected him. They brought this on all of us. So they look a little tired. So what. How many of them are facing deportation or loss of their health insurance their jobs or access to clean water? Any of them ripped from their parents' arms and held in a cage? Their wealth will protect them from the worst of what he and his minions have done and are yet to do. If they had done their jobs we wouldn't be in this never ending nightmare. They shouldn't have played his klan rallies on tv. They should have burned him to ashes when he talked like an idiot. As mentioned up the thread there was an inordinate amount of time spent on "her emails".

They gave passes to the fast dealing trump shittalkers. They gave those bastards a platform to spread their shit outside of fox.

They all need to be tired and ready to be even more so because the majority of the news media printed ,and otherwise, have a long road to travel before they are clear of the damage they wrought with their money making narratives.

I hope those behind the cameras and not just out there in front are feeling it as well. The ones that mapped out exactly how the coverage would play. I hope they have eyes that are just as red as those in front of the cameras and on the bylines.

So start with that travesty, and add in the current (mis)administration’s flip-flops, reversals and multiple changes they toss willy-nilly into the storylines of each crisis du jour. Then there are the tons of daily hate mail, threatening phone calls, and other forms of harassment.

And think how it must feel to be a factual news/media person, who takes pride in honest, truthful work, only to have it completely dismissed by the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and told that you’re just “fake news” multiple times daily over a two-year stretch.

"Then there are the tons of daily hate mail, threatening phone calls, and other forms of harassment."

The constant barrage must be both frightening and demeaning.

tRump will continue with his "fake news" claims, but I wish journalists, reporters, commentators and the like would lessen their use of the phrase. I feel their adoption of it is legitimizing the phrase and taking away the stun value from when it's used by its originator and would prefer the term to remain unacknowledged by MSM, and keep it as a example of the spew from 45, rather than being normalized and accepted by the masses. At it's origin, it set 45 apart as a bully, but by mainstreaming it, they/we give it approval.

But the right wing has a history of weaponizing language for effect in the media: “pro-life,” “entitlements,” “Democrat Party,” etc. Someone in service to 45 most likely told him to appropriate it, and to repeat it as often as possible. (Not unlike, “No collusion. There was no collusion. None. No collusion.”)

One of the right’s prime exponents of using language for power has been (sorry) Newt Gingrich.

You’re probably aware of his famous/infamous 1996 GOPAC memo, which included a list of words to be used by then-freshman Republican members of Congress. Kind of a rhetorical handbook of words to control any discussion.

The words are listed here, from 23 years ago (apologies if you’re already familiar with it):
