Trump supporters will cheer further confirmation that their cult leader has sex with models, Republicans in Congress will dismiss it as irrelevant (if they gave a damn about Trump breaking laws or lying, Trump would have been gone long ago), and the mainstream media will quickly move on to the next horror.
I'm not being cynical. I'm just stating what is pretty obvious based on the last 3 years of Trump stories/scandals.
It's all about November, folks.

(16,950 posts)bury him. He lies so much in public, this looks like the beginnings of the comeuppance so when the FBI finally gets everything out, there will be no way to counter it.

(10,721 posts)Thousands of lies have been documented, so every new lie gets lost in the sea of lies.
And breaking the law is also nothing new. Trump is violating federal records law, the emoluments clause, Sabraw's court order, the Flores Settlement, he ran a fake university, he's committed and bragged openly about sexual assault, and on and on and on.

(16,950 posts)so he has no way out. Congress won't hold him accountable, and there are probably many layers to the money laundering and campaign violations that the leaks are also a warning to others, not just Trump.

(16,950 posts)but that's why these strategic leaks will help with public opinion. I also took this leak as a warning to others that Mueller is looking at the Americans involved now, not just the Russians.
I haven't read that whole article you linked, have to go, but will read later.

(10,721 posts)And that maybe they will suppress Republican efforts to do the same.
But I'm not convinced these stories do that, partly because they don't remain in the public consciousness. Most people don't follow politics or current events the way we all on DU do. And the mainstream media will soon move on to the next horror. We've seen this happen time and time again.

Nail those fucking evangelicals and their Trump prayer circles. Nail the family values GOP members. Hell, I would even ask Melania about it as they did Hillary about Genifer Flowers.

(1,977 posts)He taped everything. You'll have this, Daniels, Bechard and "Jane Doe" rape accuser being discussed. And who knows what else.... All made during the campaign and he will be stuck trying to argue it had nothing to do with the election but everything to do with a pre-nup with Melania.
Again, they're done with him - the people who matter, that is.

Investigations often take place on a different schedule than we may desire. Patience is a powerful tool in avoiding knee-jerk reactions.
