Seems like all youd have to do is remove our trust in the election system to get the two parties at war. You can see how easily humans are manipulated. You can get Trump voting commie haters to like Russia so very easily by just offering them some benefit like winning elections. You thought that sort of thing died out after the lessons of WWII? Humans are extremely susceptible to greed and self interest.
Knowing this, all Putin has to do is plant doubt in our system and voila, destabilization. If the midterms look rigged, that seems plausible.
Is this where were headed?

(8,598 posts)I think ultimately his goal is to bring down the dollar, so it's no longer used as the unit of exchange for international trade. When those dollars come back to the US, it will be like Weimar Germany here.

(15,064 posts)What was said in that private meeting is extremely important to the American people. The Russians obviously know everything that was talked about but we do not. Why is that? Do all American citizens really feel that Russians need to know more information about Putin and Trump's private meeting then we do? I think most of it we can discern from RT and other Russian media sources. Of course those entities are propaganda machines but agreements reached seems to be what they are promoting and they are also talking about Trump as being a boob.

(16,423 posts)For example, look at the articles on RT: Some are aggressively pro-Trump, some are aggressively anti-Trump (though pro-Trump outnumbers them), catering to every possible political affiliation, giving talking-points to every possible political argument.
RT doesn't report on good things happening in the US. They only report on three things with respect to the US:
1. How great Trump is.
2. What an awful country the US are, full of poverty, violence and racism.
3. That one stupid "Weirdo of the Week" who did something really stupid.
They quote Trump without fact-checking, while never quoting people who make Trump look bad: RT only summarizes, fact-checks and comments what these people said, but rarely ever give a full quote.
For example, when Sztork gave his testimony, RT gave only the shortest-possible summaries of what he said, leaving out the most interesting parts.

(6,066 posts)I grew up in southwest Missouri, an area where people were heavily conflicted about the Civil War. The expression, "brother against brother" could have been coined there. The history of the war there was basically armed bands of men roaming around doing pretty much what they felt like doing.
Not something any sane American would wish to happen again, but a sane Russian could.

(15,234 posts)Even though I do not ask I take notes. Those who I know are Trump supporters do not cross my gate. Businesses owned by Trump supporters I avoid. I keep plans and options at all times to repel Trump supporters. If you support Trump I do not have to be civil. I equate a Trump sign with a swastika or hammer and sickle.

(4,370 posts)While addressing Westerners at the embassy on November 18, 1956, in the presence of Polish Communist statesman Władysław Gomułka, Khrushchev said: "About the capitalist states, it doesn't depend on you whether or not we exist. If you don't like us, don't accept our invitations, and don't invite us to come to see you. Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!"

(24,396 posts)A Civil War would create the perfect pretext for an authoritarian lover like Trump to do the crackdown on free speech and other civil rights that he probably already wants to do- "to re-establish law and order"

(23,065 posts)He wants us to destabilize the world economy with our trade war & make sure that Russia profits from this. He wants to invade at least 1 Eastern European country that is a member of NATO and have drumpf refuse NATO's request to help, destroying the group. After that, he wants to destroy us and will do it by releasing every single thing he has on orange assmouth in hopes the militias will start a war or at least military action against the government (after drumpfs kicked out and hopefully in jail for conspiracy against America and conspiracy with a hostile foreign power to illegally affect US elections & money laundering).

This was Bannon's plan to dismantle the US from within, he is a Leninist. Stephen Miller has some deep mental issues too.
