6. Where I'm Coming From Is That There Are Dem Candidates That Call Themselves.....
Fri Jul 20, 2018, 02:23 PM

'democratic socialists'. The Repugs and sometimes even the MSM looks at that term very negatively. If fact - that was one of the things that the Repugs used against Bernie Sanders in the run-up to 2016. They damned him because he called himself a 'democratic socialist'.

Yet now - it seems like the whole of the Repug Party and the Deplorables have embraced Russia and Putin and their ideology. I can remember when Russia was communist.

That's what I mean. How is it Russian and Putin are acceptable - but anyone that calls themself a 'democratic socialist' isn't acceptable?

autoritarian country, has nothing to do with democratic socialism; there is nothing democratic about russia. GOP only embraced putin cause he is financing their campaigns and helps hacking elections in their favor. If putin tried to hack election in dem favor, you would witness immidiate cold war. I wish some other country hack gop so they get serious about cybersecurity.

8. A century of demonizing "socialism."
Fri Jul 20, 2018, 02:52 PM

Equating it with "communism," "totalitarianism."

Calling them "big gubment."

McCarthy, Red Scare, HUAC, Reagan attacking "big gubment," etc. Long history of RW attacks on anything resembling collectivism or "greater good."

They think they like Putin's autocratic kleptocracy because it's no longer evil "big gubment" communism/socialism/collectivism/greater good, even though it's probably not much different than the old tsarist autocracy.

11. So The Deplorables Would Rather Have No Government?.....
Fri Jul 20, 2018, 06:34 PM
Jul 2018

Trump & his fellow colluders have done away with a ton of regulations and people protections on environment, financial, elections, healthcare, etc - to the point where we the American People basically have no government/protections. This is more acceptable than a government For the People and By the People? No government is better than what we had?

They might as well take all driver safety regs, stoplights/signs & speed limits away.

14. Those things require paying taxes.

Now that the "big gubment" USSR is gone, taxes are GOP Enemy #1. GOP propagandists don't frame government as "protections" but rather as the "transfer of wealth" through taxes from the rich who have earned it ( ) to lazy "welfare queens in Cadillacs" who don't deserve it. Their base isn't smart enough or doesn't care enough to figure it all out; for many of them it's all about one issue: God, guns, gays, racism, tribalism, etc.

That really is as far as a lot of these people think. "Ha, the Left is mad! Yay Trump!"

Republicans in power are going along because their policies are being pushed through and solidified with the Supreme Court.

But as far as the average pro-Trump voter, I really wish it were more complicated than that, but I think for a lot of Trump's core, it isn't.
