Michelle Obama Launches Voter Registration Campaign with Tom Hanks and Lin-Manuel Miranda

snipster//

Miranda has joined forces with former First Lady Michelle Obama and some other famous friends to launch a new voter registration nonprofit called When We All Vote.

In addition to the Hamilton creator and the first lady, the co-chairs of the national nonpartisan organization include actor Tom Hanks, country music stars (and spouses) Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, basketball player Chris Paul and singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe.

The launch video shows Obama and Miranda personally making voter registration calls, reminding the other co-chairs to vote in every election — “school board, state house, all of them,” Obama instructs.

“Voting is the only way to ensure that our values and priorities are represented in the halls of power,” Obama says in a statement in When We All Vote’s press release. “And it’s not enough to just vote for president every four years. We all have to vote in every single election: for mayor, governor, school board, state legislature and Congress. The leaders we elect to these offices help determine just about every aspect of our lives and our democracy. So the future of our families, our communities and our country belongs to those of us who show up, cast our votes, and make our voices heard.”

It's very easy to talk about why your candidate is great without smearing other Democrats running.

The PCCC has sent out some questionable emails, but I watched at least AOC and Brent at the KS03 rally and both stayed on message -- Brent specifically qualified his "corporate money" attack as about Yoder, which is both smart and factual as Davids hasn't taken money from a single PAC that hasn't donated to at least one of the PCCC or Justice Democrats endorsed candidates as well.

Sharice, as well, has stayed on message -- ignoring on her own Twitter/blog the discussions about Welder's endorsement, having a pinball tournament fundraiser last night and going to a voters forum to talk to people, and her campaign releasing her use of her closing statement to slam a Libertarian today vs anything about another Democrat.

A healthy primary talks about issues but doesn't leave people bitter.

One of the best ways to do that is staying positive and keeping the primary a discussion (if sometimes heated debate) instead of a "battle".
