After Helsinki, White House Staff Depressed and Ready to Bail
One side effect of President Trumps press conference with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was destroying the morale of his White House staff. According to a new article in POLITICO, morale inside the West Wing is extremely low following the Helsinki summit and many staffers want to quit but are afraid of a backlash from other party members if they do.
One Republican in Washington who is close to members of the White House staff had this to say:
Due to their disenchantment with the president, many staffers had been planning to leave after the midterm elections in November. Now they are wondering if they can even wait that long, and many want to escape the bad environment right away.
Surprisingly, the issue that drew many young staff people to want to work in the Trump White House is morality. According to POLITICO, these staffers now feel that Trump failed morally in Helsinki, just as he did after Charlottesville, and they no longer want to be associated with him and his presidency. They say that morale has sunk to its lowest level since Charlottesville, when Trump refused to condemn neo-Nazi demonstrators. This triggered public soul-searching by Trumps Jewish economic policy adviser Gary Cohn, who eventually left the administration.
Similarly, the Helsinki fiasco has raised questions for those who view Russia as a serious adversary. They are asking themselves how they can continue to work for a president who has now publicly supported and even befriended a brutal dictator like Vladimir Putin.

(21,591 posts)Their lives will forever bear the taint of working for the traitor. They knew he had no decent morals from day one. I dont buy the notion that anyone went to work for Trump for morality. They knew and didnt care because they wanted power.

If they are truly critical of Trump, say so in public and/or actually resign. None of this second-hand-anonymous-quote-given-to-an-access-journalism-outlet BS.

(2,199 posts)They weren't duped. They knew exactly what they were signing on for.
They're all pieces of shit that knew that the only way that they could float to the jobs they have is under trump. None of them would have been hired if there had been a real President in office, and that even includes Ronald Raygun and the Cheney/Bush regime.
For example...Sarah Huckabee Sanders....does anyone seriously think she could have landed that job under any other President ever? trump doesn't hire the best people. He hires the best people that are willing to work for him. And those people just plain suck.

(61,690 posts)Her speech is not energetic any more like it was before. She doesn't want to take on the press because she knows they are infinitely more honest than the WH and Trump. Her pressers always start late, too, like she's waiting for everyone to give up and leave or for Russia to nuke us. Then she doesn't have to be seen again defending the liar.

The public expects firings and resignations. It's what defines the Trump administration.

(10,823 posts)Morality attracted them to the Trumpster. WTF were they smoking? His abysmal relationship with and betrayal of women was on the record (and video--the famous 'grab 'em by the pussy' fiasco), he's been a bigot throughout his life and his claim to fame in business is an absolute sham, having stiffed contractors and tradesmen in his many failed, mob-tied enterprises.
The man is the antithesis of morality, and he has lived up to his history with every passing day.
Sorry but these staffers don't get off the hook that easily. When you sell your soul, you should not be surprised that the Devil cheats and/or that things can get dicey.
This stink will follow them for a long, long time.
