We support our players. They are not going to be punished. There is not going to be any punitive action taking place against them.

(1,260 posts)Its not like the Giants dont need a QB!
Words are easy to say. Sign Kapernick to a multi million dollar contract, and then Ill respect and trust him.

(11,606 posts)He will be for at least the next couple of years. We drafted Kyle Lauletta as his heir apparent.
Their choice was performance related, not political IMHO.

(17,863 posts)when Watson went down. Similar skill set and QB approach. Also losing didn't really help them in the draft since they did not have 1st or 2nd round picks.

(36,423 posts)In the 2009, Kaepernick was drafted by the Chicago Cubs as a pitcher.
Hell, in street clothes he threw an 87 mph first pitch at a Giants Game
As a QB, Kaepernick was a one trick pony and his opponents learned exactly how to exploit his weaknesses. Factoid: the 49ers and Kaepernick were in the process of divorcing long before he ever 'took a knee'.

(1,260 posts)Consider that no NFL team needs a QB more than the Giants...except Cleveland.
Words are easy to say. He should put his money where his mouth is.

2 time Super Bowl MVP. 1st ballot HOF. Whats your team got?? Yeah, right, NOTHING.
And besides, genius, the Co-owner doesn't "sign" players in the NFL. The General Manager does. You would have known that if you knew what you were talking about. Troll.

From May
ATLANTA Despite the NFLs approval of a revised policy that requires players on the field to stand during the national anthem, Jets chairman Christopher Johnson told Newsday on Wednesday that his players are free to take a knee or perform some other protest without fear of repercussion from the team.
League owners unanimously adopted a policy that allows players who dont want to participate in the anthem to remain in the locker room. Players who do appear on the field for the anthem must stand; if they dont, their respective club faces a league-issued fine and teams can levy additional fines.
I do not like imposing any club-specific rules, Johnson said. If somebody [on the Jets] takes a knee, that fine will be borne by the organization, by me, not the players. I never want to put restrictions on the speech of our players. Do I prefer that they stand? Of course. But I understand if they felt the need to protest. There are some big, complicated issues that were all struggling with, and our players are on the front lines. I dont want to come down on them like a ton of bricks, and I wont. There will be no club fines or suspensions or any sort of repercussions. If the team gets fined, thats just something Ill have to bear.

(28,256 posts)He's taken what was once a first-rate franchise and put it into the toilet. And he'll never be as gutsy as the Giants guy in standing up to trump's authoritarian bullshit.
Jimmy Johnson's success in the early 90's made him believe he knew football. Since then, the Cowboys have lost, lost, lost. The Cowboys have been Jerry Jones's Tinkertoy since he fired Johnson.

(15,696 posts)This decision is the only possible conclusion to be drawn when players' first amendment rights abuses end up in court. In fact, players should include Trump in their future suits against team owners for using his office to inimidate owners into violating their rights.

(7,611 posts)I almost switched to the arch-rival Eagles after they skipped the White House visit. Now all we need is a mobile quarterback, a couple offensive linemen, a pass rush, some healthy receivers, and a franchise running back.

(14,565 posts)He died a few years ago. In his later years he and my mom would visit Saratoga often during summer and attend Giants training camp in Albany. The Giants were so thoughtful to them, especially once my mom started having difficulty moving around. The Giants would summon a golf cart and place her front and center at practice.
What a contrast between the Dolphins and Giants. They were my dad's two favorite teams. I imagine the order would be reversed right now, based on how each franchise has handled this decision.

(3 posts)How does angering a core group of fans help the NFL? After all it is a business not a social platform. I watch football to get away from politics, if I angered customers at my job, I would be fired.
