3. While being a blue state, Maryland does have a history of electing republics into office.

Shit, they elected Spiro Agnew and Robert "Good Hair" Erlich. Maryland, while a blue state, does have the western part which has large swaths of KKK/teabaggers and the eastern shore which has a teabagger representative. The regions between Baltimore and DC have managed to keep the KKK/teabaggers in check. Also, in 2014, the Democratic Party candidate was very weak.

The regions you cite are exactly as you cite them. It is the northern half of Baltimore County that can go either way.

8. Yeah. HoCo, MoCo, PGCo, and Baltimore City tend to drive the elections.

If those counties are down, then it's possible for a republic party candidate to win.

I remember driving up through back roads north of Frederick 15 years ago, and it is a whole different world up there. Confederate flags everywhere, and I'm sure if they could get away with it, there would be lynchings. We had a bunch of those yahoos drive into our village center in 2008 in those pickups with no mufflers that belch out coal fumes trying to piss off our diverse community (many in the military or government).

Fucking douchebags.

4. Because Martin O'Malley's Lt Governor was kind of a campaign bozo

A man of color, he almost completely ignored the black community and just plain took them for granted.

Hogan has been ineffective in advancing a GOPee agenda because the state legislature is very effective at keeping him in check.

He is being challenged by former NAACP head Ben Jealous.

He has not been too nuts, though I've heard him in interviews where he props up IQ45.

Hopefully Ben Jealous will hammer Hogan with them. The NRA and GOP are different heads of the same beast.
