POC seeking allies

I've been posting on this site for over ten years and I've noticed something the last few years that has bugged me; whenever there's a post about a person of color being verbally assaulted, discriminated against or even shot and killed by police ( unjustifiably I might add) those post fail to get the same amount of recs as someone posting a darn cat pic or something far less significant. Since Trump has been in office there has been an increase in verbal and physical assaults of POC. It seems when some people respond to such topics, they do so, without considering those facts. When someone calls a POC the "n-word" it steps over the line from just being a jerk. I think POC just want to feel that folks who claim to be their allies understand the hostility they face on a daily basis and will not downplay it or make excuses for the culprits.

This is going to be my last post, because I feel that it's time to move on.

Get a lot of traction these days and I'm glad for that. Nazis in the public sector are losing their jobs. Still not a hint of police being held to any moral standard. =( it's reprehensible.

3. Some times people get leery about giving a 'rec' to a horrible story,

like they don't want to rec that news.

I'm sorry if you're leaving. This party needs all of its strongest constituencies represented and heard from. And I understand that POC do face threats and hostility on a daily basis, that I don't face. So do women, so do LGBTs, & religious minorities.

6. I think that is a big part of the reason.

Also, when I hear these stories about people of color - and they are far too frequent - I just feel such a mixture of sadness, frustration and anger because it just seems to happen too often and not enough is done about them so sometimes I just have no words. I often do comment on many posts, but some I just let go by and silently despair and grieve for the victim.

To the OP, please don't go. I know how you feel, because I feel the same way when something horrible happens to a woman. Sometimes, people just get overwhelmed by the powerlessness and anguish they feel. It isn't necessarily because they don't care.

but few or no recs, about reccing my self. Sometimes the news is too painful, I'm not suffering like the people the news is reporting about, but it hurts bad to not be able to help. Can't touch the pain. I say a prayer for them, but that's small comfort for the non-religious.

Who knows who is recommending posts? For example, several fail-type videos here have made the Greatest Page lately, and those are mindless humor at best and cruel at worst.

I sometimes recommend cuteness pics simply as a coping mechanism after reading post after post detailing right-wing crap.

I hope you reconsider.

And this op must not read du very often if they think there are not allies of POC here.

forum home with the recs you want to see. If not, please consider returning.

This is for you for farewell since, of course, many of the children kidnapped away from their parents into detention camps are POC, and I don't mean those we refer to as Hispanic. We, as well as the media, are failing to recognize that the refugee pipeline flows across the Atlantic from other continents, including Africa, to the western hemisphere, including the Caribbean, and turns north, gathering people all the way.

And, of course, I'm going to rec your post.

Best wishes, Rainlillie.

12. Others have said as much, but I'll say this as well

It's so much easier to rec a sweet, alluring, POSITIVE video than it is to rec a post about the horrors we're all seeing all around us. It's HARD to read about all the Living While Black episodes, and other atrocities that the Trump demon has unleashed upon the nation.

Please forgive us for not responding as you hope we would -- but never, ever imagine it means that we care less. The truth, I believe, is that we care more, but feel somewhat hopeless in the face of it and powerless too. Rec'ing doesn't fix those feelings.

But I'll make it my business to do better.

I hope you don't move on.

because I don't want to give the impression that I am approving those actions.
If we had facebook options, I'd signal sadness or anger rather than a like.

You have support here.
I am horrified about what POC have to deal with in our country.
