General Discussion

I really do not expect much of anything to get accomplished legislatively or otherwise until after the people vote in November. I do not expect McConnell to try and push thru the Supreme Court Justice, although it could be much tougher if Democrats win the Senate, but not impossible. I do not expect any conclusive indictments from Mueller until after election. The government is pretty much frozen in place, in my opinion.
But, after the election, I expect all hell to break loose.
However, this is not necessarily bad. The longer that the investigation goes on without interference, the more evidence is uncovered and the more convictions will be coming from the Mueller investigation.

Dems want to put off until after the elections
Republicons would like SC appmt if they can get it soon, but are wary of trump getting blown up, affecting them on other issues.

(111,051 posts)Because other issues, like healthcare, are also in the mix. I doubt that there are that many red-state Democrats that would vote for the Republican or against the Democrat because of the Supreme Court nominee. Just my opinion.

(111,051 posts)...the investigation will be put on sort of a hold 60 days out from the election is the general consensus.
triron
(21,984 posts)If that is consensus then people may be very surprised.
Treason is too big for worrying about proximity to the election IMO.

(111,051 posts)We should not be concerned about proximity to election, under these circumstances.

(23,140 posts)I think McTurdle and Ryan will hold a lot of symbolic votes to put Dems on the record so they can use their votes against them in the campaign. The Kavanaugh vote will be one they WILL try to force through--I don't see much gain for the R's in trying to hold that vote in a lame-duck session, especially if they can use the vote to bludgeon some Dems in red-leaning states. I dread that vote in multiple ways.

I want every single lying piece of repub blank blank indicted for a whole slew of crimes, including collusion and obstruction of justice, just for start.
I want this party forever banned and wiped out as a home for bigots, traitors, and the like.
