Ecuador is in talks to kick the WikiLeaks founder out of its embassy in London, according to The Intercept.
Julian Assange, the controversial founder of WikiLeaks, may soon be forced out of Ecuadors embassy in London and turned over to British authorities, according to a new report.
Ecuadorean President Lenin Moreno is set to finalize an agreement with the U.K. government to lift Assanges asylum status, The Intercepts Glenn Greenwald reported, citing a source within the Ecuadors foreign ministry.
Assange has been holed up in the embassy since 2012, after he fled Sweden over allegations of sexual assault and rape. Though prosecutors dropped the case last year, he still faces arrest for breaching bail conditions should he leave the embassy.
And his work using WikiLeaks to publish thousands of classified documents could see him facing more charges in the U.S.
U.S. intelligence agencies believe that WikiLeaks coordinated with Russian hackers to release emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election. Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly investigating connections between WikiLeaks and Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to Donald Trump before he became president.

(25,111 posts)OR there is poison.
Greenwald have a sad. Claims if Assange is harmed it sends a signal to American journalists that they could be next. WTF? For one thing, Russia kills their journalist who try and get out the truth about Putin. Second, Assange is no journalist.

I just checked, even though the Swedish government dropped their investigation against him for sexual crimes, they said they could resume it anytime in the next two years if he's "available", which could be.

(83,654 posts)The US will be happy to accommodate him. From what I hear about his personal hygiene habits the embassy will have to fumigate the place to get his stench out.

(14,164 posts)Trump may do everything he can to prevent Assange from having to testify. And may try and add whatever indictments against Assange more of the same "witch hunt". After all , he did help him win.
And even if Assange is convicted and sentenced, Trump could pardon him right away. A little nod of thanks.
