No, Hillary Clinton is not worse than Vladimir Putin. Your hate is not rational. You are a victim of right-wing propaganda.
No, Russia is not our friend. They are attempting to tear down our country, even as we speak. It is not "a good thing" to get along with Russia when they continue to try and destroy our democracy. Your president is wrong.
No, unless you are in the top 1%, the tax cut was not for you. Don't be ignorant. Most working Republicans have seen their taxcut disappear already, just from gas prices and inflation. Like George Carlin once said, "it's a big club and you're not part of it".
No, FOX News does not tell you the truth. They have become nothing more than "State News" for the White House. There is a reason that Trump skips CNN and calls on FOX reporters. They are the "fake news".
No, the press is not the "enemy of the people'. If you buy that crap, it is you that are the enemy of the people. The press is always the enemy in authoritarian and totalitarian regimes. We do not wish that upon America.
No, the flag is not meant to be sullied by those that disrespect all those that have fought and died for it. Tyrants wrap themselves in the flag and wave the Bible in self-righteous ways.
No, if you want to know what the Trump Derangement Syndrome looks like, just look in the mirror. You cannot call yourself Americans if you continue to ignore what is being done to our country in your name. You are betraying everything about America.

Yet they fly our flag over their hate, next to their hate symbols, as if America didn't fight several wars against both.

(8,277 posts)the term "derangement syndrome" came because of the sheer hatred of President Obama and anyone and anything he did. Don't believe me?
Go find out what O'Connell said on the day of Obama's inauguration; that they would not support anything and everything Obama did or tried to do.
Our anger is because POTUS is a crook, a con man, a liar and a thief. Period.

(988 posts)I will be honest...
I am not sure what the path is to get these people reprogrammed without a bias. Fox news has done some serious damage.
I was at a bar in Baton Rouge a day back and they had in on fox news along with many other sport channels. Tucker Carlson was all during his show displaying, the left is dangerous, the leftists are mad, the left, the liberals are evil...etc.etc.
No wonder these guys are filled with so much hate. This should not be allowed. This is a hate channel.
There should be a law that prevent hate being spewed on a news channel without some ramification... fine, etc.

(988 posts)It might just make them more angry. The right fix is to get these people aware of the true facts and release them from their programmed hate of liberals.
lunatica
(53,410 posts)They are willfully ignorant, racists and mean. They choose to ignore facts. They are addicted to the strong emotions Trump brings out in them. They cut off their noses just to spite their faces.
It helps if you understand the addictive nature of rage and self pity. These strong emotions are pure narcissistic self indulgence. The only way they would ever turn against Trump would be if he stopped feeding their addiction.
Thinking is not involved in their lives. They cant get their rage fix if they think.

(988 posts)If you think this problem on the right is just in the last 2 years with Trump you are gravely mistaken.
Fox News has complete programmed a large chunk of the right into being liberal haters... they dont care about the facts. This has been going on for some 20 years and Rush Limbaugh before that.
Sure winning the house and senate and presidency gets us on track to help make these changes but we also have to work on the root cause of the large divide or it remains.

(53,410 posts)The Trump base has been getting their rage and self pity fix from Fox and Hannity and Limbaugh for decades. Theyre not giving their addiction up for nobody.

So we are bringing that message to red areas.

(988 posts)I like the idea of a few billionaires or alot of people chipping in an buying Fox News.
Then we can slowly change the programming and get these people programmed back on track.

(18,614 posts)Well stated, especially all the points about the press being an anathema to a totalitarian regime.
Certainly a free press is an enemy to the state in N Korea, China, and Russia. It is therefore banned in favor of the leader's official mouthpiece.

(5,810 posts)So we see him do & say things that no other US politician has been able to use as effectively as tRump. True, he will certainly not attract a huge majority of this country but he will find enough to keep him afloat. It is disgusting to many of us see him mimic and mock a man with visible physical problems, deny ever meeting the man and then deny he was mocking him. It reminds me of when I was in school and a bully would make fun of someone in the class. Yes, some people didnt like it, but the bully could always count on getting a snicker or outright laugh out of some of the class. The teacher could admonish the bully but rarely said a word to those who laughed or encouraged the bully.
So it is with tRump. He attracts a certain type of personality to his rallies who clearly enjoy his theatrics. He puts on a good show as the saying goes. And anyone who dares to protest his cruelty becomes the next target. So even if there are horrified attendees, they keep quiet and never utter a peep, lest tRump and the crowd (with tRumps encouragement) target them. He directs them to respond with contempt and disrespect and they are happy to comply.
It is disheartening to see him continue to hold on to the supporters he has because it reveals a really ugly truth about our citizenry. Racial discrimination, gender bias, denigration of anyone tRump deems ugly or imperfect is promoted by tRump and his followers eat it up. It never occurs to any of them that if he can violate norms of civilized behavior against one group, he can do the same to another. And the next time it might be them in the crosshairs of his cruelty.
We are on a dangerous path and tRump has a lot of enablers, including key members of Congress and a significant majority of his party. I have my hands in front of my eyes (figuratively) fearing what I see playing out ever day. I feel pretty bleak about the future but have a tiny spark of hope that there are more of us than there are of them and maybe we can join together, speak up and stop tRump/Putin in order to save us.

(338 posts)... I spend a surprising amount of time rhetorically beating back progressives who are very prone to trolling comments favorable to Hillary, the Democratic Party, and the U.S. intelligence community, and comments hostile toward Russia and the Putin regime for hacking U.S. elections. These nominally enlightened and informed activists remain certain that 1.) Russian government consists of good guys, just misunderstood and for decades horribly mistreated by the U.S.; 2.) Hillary was as Trump avers "crooked" and would be worse in the White House than he is, and 3.) The DNC hacks were an inside job, this last view of course not explaining how siimlar hacks were perpetrated on a number of our European allies, who were among the first to notice the same treatment of the US election.
When I point out to these trolls that they needn't be entirely supportive of everything the Democratic Party does, nor all that Hillary said or did, nor have full faith in and zero skepticism regarding what the U.S. intelligence community says, they also should not be totally oppositional, because that stance is the very essence of what Cozy Bear and company, aided by Wikileaks and the Republican Party, want you to think. But they don't see it, or they glim it but don't want at this point to back away from it.
