KS-03 -- Great podcast from Sharice Davids on immigration, equity, and intent!

I must admit, in the parlance of masculine culture, I got the female equivalent of "a chubby" at how many times she spoke of intent guiding action.

Maybe it was my time in intentional community, where I learned about intent and consensus, living with each other despite differences, etc. You may think living in a 14-person commune with consensus decision-making would be easy, but it's far from it. Perhaps in such microcosms tensions are more easily identified, but Sharice talks about intent in the macrocosom.

I'm unsure if this podcast group has interviewed other KS-03 candidates, but from their blurb:

When it comes to demographics, Congress is notoriously homogenous. Even with incrementally increasing diversity, never before has an openly LGBTQ woman of color or a Native American woman served to Congress. That could all change this November, should Sharice Davids be elected. If she achieves victory in Kansas’ 3rd district, she will become the first Native American woman, the first openly LGBTQ woman of color, and the first openly LGBTQ Native American woman to ever serve in Congress.

But before she can make history in November, Sharice must make it through a competitive six-way primary. Fortunately, as a trained martial artist, Sharice is no stranger to a good fight. With the support of EMILY’s List, Victory Fund, Run with Pride, and Moms Demand Action, she is taking on competition that Brent Welder, a fellow progressive endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez; Jay Sidie, the 2016 Democratic nominee who lost by 10.7 points; and Mike McCamon, a centrist who purports to be “responsible for the mainstream success of Bluetooth.”

The candidate who comes out first in the August 7 primary will take on Republican incumbent Kevin Yoder, who votes with Donald Trump over 90% of the time. Though Yoder has won re-election easily since flipping the district in the GOP sweep of 2010, he is considered the most vulnerable member of Kansas’ all-Republican congressional delegation. Kansas’ 3rd is an Obama-Romney-Clinton district, with Trump losing the district in 2016 by a single point.

After Sharice's takedown of Clemmons, I have no doubt she'll defeat someone similar to the guy I dealt with who, as a team lead on a rollout, claimed that "Bluetooth wasn't available in his area". We all had to keep from laughing, and he didn't keep his position long.

If someone is aware of a comparison podcast from the other progressive running in the district, Welder, I'd appreciate the link. Also, just saying, this thread is to highlight a great interview from a great Democratic candidate. Please don't trash on it by trashing on anyone running or endorsing other Dems in KS-03. Thanks in advance for remaining positive!

Strong focus on immigration during this interview.

I sure hope Yoder can be defeated in the general by either her or one of the other great Democratic primary candidates.
