Are we on the brink of violent civil unrest?

It is still hard to believe what is going on in our country. Trump supporters are getting hurt by Trump and they are still with him. It is clear Trump is a major threat to our democracy and his voters can't even recognize it. That's unbelievable, and extremely dangerous.

This November, if the Republicans hold both the house and senate because of voter suppression, gerrymandering and Russian interference that will be proof we longer have a democracy. Voting will no longer matter because its rigged.

When Mueller ends his investigation, he brings forward absolute proof Trump committed major crimes and the Republicans refuse to act that will be proof we no longer have the rule of law. Trump will become more emboldened and he will grab more power.

If these two things happen what other options do the patriots of America have left? I have to be honest, I am becoming very worried this could spin out of control. I have said from the beginning Trumps presidency could only end one way, Badly. How badly is the question.

I am sure of this, if those two things happen the patriots of America will not take it laying down. They will rise up and fight back. They will not surrender America to Trump.

I hope no harm comes to any American. I don't want to see anybody killed, including Trump. I want Trump to go to prison. This seems like a moment in history where the American people have lost control and we are going to pay a big price.

I still believe Mueller will bring Trump down and save our democracy, but I have to admit nothing makes sense anymore. Up is down and down is up. Right is wrong and wrong is right. I need a drink.

Good luck everyone.

My idea of the worst case scenario involves secession of chunks of Blue America, or a split into 2 countries.

Of course Russia would like that; it would make us weaker.

Beware when the Republican supporters get disenfranchised and begin to join our ranks. They are the ones that might use our peaceful protests to react violently. We'll get tagged for it.

and the Left doesn't seem inclined to start things like that.

So, I doubt it.

Because there will be a lot of religous nuts driven to violence if we arr able to halt his court picks.

Nothing organized. Just random attacks like we see in Europe with ISIS supporters.

Many rep pages I look at now post about getting ready for civil war. It scares me. I think some of them might lose it in November if we win.

If our votes don't count, the rule of law is not upheld, protests could become violent.

and too decentralized. Who's going to war against whom?

The closest we come is the south, but that's up to a third black, plus other POC, who aren't exactly going to go in on the idea of declaring a white nationalist state. Among other problems.

The big danger is that conservatives could form a majority with unhappy minor factions to vote to replace democracy with an authoritarian state. That's happened in a number of sham democracies, where only pretense of representative government continues.

Extremism is growing here on both right and left (though far larger numbers on the right), and polls show a willingness to discard democracy by people who are being outvoted by the majorities formed by mainstream factions. Not only many on the right but some on the left have demonstrated a willingness to set aside the vote in order to win. This is a grave sign that we must protect our democracy by rebuilding the large, working center that has always protected us against extremism.

They think "the generals" will save us and restore our republic to democracy, all of history be damned. Some of them think civil war is a-comin', yee-haw.

I do not know if these people are just misguided DUers driven mad by Trump or if they are part of a troll army, but if you do an OP like this one, expect some or all of them to show up.

Personally, I think Trump has empowered racists, misogynists, and white nationalists to be loud and proud and plow their cars into crowds of peaceful protesters. To march with tiki torches without bothering with those old fashioned white hoods. So far we are not responding in kind. That is as far as I will go.

This is what the alt-right is spinning and promoting. Just more provocation and churn to promote fear and anxiety throughout the electorate.

Unlike Russia, we are a Nation of laws, not men. The Rule of Law is our friend and eventually a successful congressional reset and the Rule of Law will sort this out.

And that is exactly what the Trumpsters fear.

The Trump coup has already turned things upside down and inside out. It's maddening. We could be very well headed on that path.
