American taxpayers will subsidize farmers who are suffering from trump's tariff policy...winning

to the tune of $12Billion dollars.

Trump to offer farmers $12B in trade aid

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue on Tuesday unveiled a three-part, $12 billion plan to ease the sting of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. farmers through a mix of payments, purchases and trade promotion efforts.

The plan seeks to ensure that U.S. farmers and ranchers — a key constituency for President Donald Trump and Republicans — don’t bear the brunt of an escalating trade fight as the administration pursues an aggressive course to rebalance America's trade relationships.

Trump's moves to slap tariffs on imports from some of America‘s largest foreign buyers have prompted retaliation against U.S. farm goods like pork, beef, soybeans, sorghum and a range of fruits.

The administration's trade aid plan, first reported by POLITICO, is also a bid to shore up support among a slice of the rural electorate ahead of the midterm elections. But the tariffs and subsequent gluts for various farm products have wreaked havoc on farming economies.

The best that we can hope for is to force rollback on cuts to Medicaid and food aid to poor people. Telling farmers that always spout off about free markets and people on government assistance that them going out of business because of Trump's tariffs is how a free market works, is sort of a non starter. Farmers for years, every single farming subsection, have been massive hypocrits for decades, year in and year out, they get crop price supports, crop loss insurance due to nature, support selling their products. Basically, they are one of the most supported industries next to the oil industry, and we take it in the shorts at the supermarket and gas pump because of that.

My stomach does not give a shit if the corn I eat come from Kansas, Brazil or Poland. My car does not care that the gas I put into it started out as a barrel of oil from Alaska, or one from Mexico or Norway. What I do care about is price and quality, if American farmers have the best of that without price supports, I buy their stuff, if they don't, I look around.
