THE ODDS SUGGEST DONALD TRUMP WILL BE IMPEACHED

Kris Abbott | Tue, Jul 24 2018, 4:40pm

Donald Trump is more likely than not to be impeached during his first term as President of the United States, at least according to oddsmakers. As of Tuesday, Trump is -200 to be impeached by the House of Representatives during his first term in office.

For those who don’t regularly gamble on sports, cards, politics, whether the sun will come up, etc. – here’s a quick tutorial on what -200 odds means: It means you need to bet $200 on “Yes, he will be impeached” in order to make a $100 profit. Interestingly, there is no “No” bet available on this prop.

If you are thinking, "Hey, only $100 on a $200 bet?" - the betting site, in this case Bovada, believes that they are likely to pay this bet, therefore they use negative odds to mitigate some of their risk and put it back on the bettors.

THE HITS KEEP COMING

but it seems to me there's so much bad news re: trump, and considering his obvious emotional 'frailty,' I don't see him being around for a long time.

both are very high probability. Trump is toast and I think he should be impeached because I don't think Pence can win in 2020. He will be toxic being associated with Trump.

...then you have a good bet to make against the bookie!

Though post 5 below clears things up further.

"Interestingly, there is no “No” bet available on this prop."

No kidding. That's the tipoff to the absurdity. If they placed two-way action on this line they would immediately be buried by so much "No" money the website would crash.

I can put up -200 on anything that is low percentage, as long as I'm too scared to book the other side. Hey, Jack Nicklaus is -200 to win the 2019 Masters. He'll be near 80 years old and has no intention of playing other than hitting the opening ceremonial tee shot, but if you want to hand me all your cash at -200 I might be willing to go for it, if I can suppress the chuckle long enough. Bring your friends.

PaddyPower has actual two-way odds on Trump.

It is -300 that he will Not be impeached and +200 on Yes

To complete his first term, Yes is -200 and No is +150
