All they would need to do is caucus with the Democrats and give the Democrats the majority in the Senate.
You would think there would be a couple that have thought about this? But they are fearful. They are frozen into inaction. Even though they know it would be best for the country.
I have seen people switch Parties in much less treacherous times.
History is calling.
Is anyone listening?

(4,066 posts)McCain's future is pretty well known.
Flake and Corker probably have some designs on running locally or getting lobbying jobs. They are not going to bite the hand that feeds them in that respect.

(110,950 posts)Corker and Flake. Both of them despise Trump. That would be a couple of good candidates.

(42,383 posts)Do you think they'll vote against Kavanaugh? Not going to happen.
Can they make impeachment happen? Nope.
So exactly what do you think they would do? Vote against tax breaks for the rich? Vote for preserving Obamacare?
There is no quick fix.

(110,950 posts)McConnell will push him thru as soon as he knows it is a sure thing, in my opinion.

(42,383 posts)and would switch parties so that the Democratic leadership would keep it from coming to a vote? And if they're against him, why not stay in the party and vote against him and not put the Democrats in a position to block other things that essentially every Republican supports?
It's just not a realistic concept.

(110,950 posts)They are not yet in the Kavanaugh camp. They would not have to switch Parties to vote against Kavanaugh. That's another issue entirely.

(42,383 posts)Again, if they switch, what do they accomplish that they want to see accomplished but can't otherwise accomplish? And what do they give up seeing accomplished that they want accomplished.
It's not realistic because it doesn't make sense for any republican to do so in terms of what they want and don't want.
