There seems to be a lot of speculation about Devine and Sanders. Divine may have been up to no good but I seriously doubt Sanders knew what he was up to, otherwise the Sanders campaign would not have informed the Clinton campaign that there seemed to be a lot of troll activity kicking in even as Sanders was campaigning for Hillary.
Snip: On Tuesday, Sanders described one spike in anti-Clinton sentiment that he attributed to the Russian campaign. In September 2016, an aide noticed hundreds of new names appearing on pro-Sanders Facebook pages to denigrate Clinton and her candidacy despite the fact Sanders himself was campaigning on her behalf during that same period.
The influx of social media trolls was alarming enough that the aide approached the Clinton campaign to inform them of the situation, Sanders said.

(30,481 posts)Tad was hired well before Sanders mentioned this and well after the Uretsky/Sanders scandal.
Additionally, saying Sanders campaigned for her is kind of funny. Katy Perry put in a stronger effort.
It's also very difficult to tell the difference between what Russians were saying and what hardcore Sanders supporters like HA Goodman were saying. Even Sanders says it was the "increase" that made it noticeable. It was all already there, there was simply an increase. Amazing that so much of what was already there sounded exactly like what the Russian came in later to do.

(15,300 posts)but the campaign worker said Sander's response was basically whatever, what do you want me to do about it? So they took it to Clinton on their own. I think he figured it helps him so he wanted to keep pretending to believe it was just more of that "youthful energy" so long as it kept working for him.
