Media rips Trump for taking no questions at 'news conference'

Members of the media criticized President Trump on Twitter after he didn't take questions at what he said would be a "news conference" on new economic numbers released Friday.

“GREAT GDP numbers just released,” Trump tweeted in a reference to gross domestic product after the Commerce Department said the economy had grown by 4.1 percent between April and June. “Will be having a news conference soon!”

But at the White House, Trump didn't take any questions.

“A ‘news conference’ means you actually take questions,” tweeted CNN executive producer Jason Morrell. “What you just did, was a speech... a very LONG one. In the meantime, we'll keep waiting for an actual ‘news conference’ where actual reporters are allowed to ask actual questions.”

Questions were shouted at Trump as he walked away from the podium. MSNBC's Kirsten Welker could be heard audibly asking Trump a question about whether his former lawyer Michael Cohen was telling the truth in claiming that Trump knew in advance about the Trump Tower meeting between campaign officials and a Russian lawyer.

... and he won't prepare in advance for the inevitable questions. When he does try to answer them, all that comes out is bullshit and lies. Lies and bullshit, that's why he's so terrible at press conferences. In addition he cannot keep from attacking the questioner, because it's his only defense against unwanted questions.

The press should have made this huge character flaw obvious to everyone long before the election. All they had to do was stop being cheerleaders for Trump and start writing the truth.

Trump won't prepare, can't say anything his febrile little brain hasn't imprinted, and gets pissy and petulant when someone insists on an answer. The question is why the media have been going along with this shitshow for so long. There are encouraging little signs here and there that the media have at last decided to treat Trump as he deserves, but there is still far too much normalizing of the abnormal. If a Democratic president hadn't held a press conference for a year and a half, every news outlet in the country would be screaming.

And by the time it's their own kids in a cage somewhere, I can PROMISE you they will have already been stripped of their power to purchase the aforementioned 'ink'.

There are days I swear when I think the 'liberal' media's idea of an Adversarial Press means you put 2 people on television and only one of them believes the Earth is flat.
