what will Russian hacking look like this time around?

I remember the DU hack in 2016 but cannot remember the dates. I don't recall if they were ever able to point to who did it or not.

What if they can just slow down internet speeds so that everyone gets pissed off and signs off? If that happened, how would we know it? Could we diagnose it correctly?

There are so many apps and devices and avenues to hacking these days. Like kids in a candy store?

I will probably suspect that any internet abnormality or hardware problem will be the Russians (hackers), even with my old (and should be updated) hardware.

Phishing.
Spoofing.
Fake news.

Too many to list.

It will look exactly like it did in 2016. Why? Because the GOP won't do anything about it. tonyt53 Jul 2018 #1

They are the party in control, and they want to keep it that way.

the goal is to produce disruption and hence to make the public and electorate have doubts about the system of both elections and ultimately the government. That can come from a variety of venues and means. It will undoubtedly include those used in the past election, but don't be surprised to see some new twists and variations, some will be very subtle and others less so. To use a sporting analogy, they don't have to score a home run on every swing, just get to base here and there be that a hit, a bunt, a hit batter or a walk.
