Not just farmers. For example, a friend of mine is a jewelry designer. She gets some specialized supplies, aluminum jump rings for chain maille, from a producer in China. Because aluminum has a tariff on it, she may or may not be able to get her order from her Chinese supplier filled. Or, if she does, it will be at a higher price because of Cheetolini's tariff. Which means that she will have to raise the prices on her kits - right at the time when crafters are starting their Christmas projects.

Got that news this last week at work. I wish we could specifically target Dump lovers for layoff. I’d gleefully hand out the pink slips to them.

Electronics components are a big item on the tariff lists. Hits everything from consumer electronics to makers and hobbiests that buy the components. Waiting to see how big a jump some of the bits and pieces I use in my hobbies (Arduino/Raspberry Pi, and ham radio) will be taking.

My sister in law had been getting 38 hours a week on average but Walmart has cut her down to 28 and it's not just her it's everyone in just about every store from what I was reading over on Reddit in a Walmart group.

and it literally took 45 minutes to check out as they only had one register open and the self checkouts were closed.
Needless to say I was pissed.
Not at the cashier but at whoever was the manager as they should have at least gotten off their ass to open up another register to help if there was no one else that was trained to do it or opened up the self checkouts.

Completely in response to the impact of Dump’s tariffs on our company. I am looking for more to cut and if we utterly have to buy it, it will be after we put the squeeze on the supplier big time.

that trade wars are easy to win!

I'd put up the sarcasm thingy, but that's not quite right. Is there one for total disgust?

I know that I know very little about trade, especially international trade, and even less about tariffs and how they affect things.

I do have a vague recollection from U.S. history or trade wars early in our country, that were very bad for us. I don't recall any details, and don't feel like doing any on line research. I suppose that completely unfettered free trade isn't the best thing either, but simply imposing tariffs willy-nilly is truly dumb.

That act along with the inaction by the Federal Reserve to immediately cut interest rates were the 2 biggest contributors to the Great Depression.
