And suggestions are just that. You can ignore it, print it, take it to the polls, burn it, throw darts at it or even (you know) on it. After looking everyone over, these are, IMHO, our best candidates. This list is not sacred depsite my strong opinions on some races so please feel free to comment. I'm especially interested in hearing about the Kansas Governor race and Washington.

(13,414 posts)Kelly, a woman, could attract support from independents and disaffected Republican women. Brewer, a black man, will not garner the same support. Brewer is a good man and a solid candidate; but Republican women will not overlook his race and vote for him. Kelly will draw support from across the aisle, especially if Kobach is the Republican nominee. Brewer will not. Republicans vastly outnumber Democrats in the state, so cross-over support is needed for any Democrat to win statewide office.

(1,568 posts)Not a bad guy just less than what we need in the intelligence, gumption and organizational skills arenas.
Ive done some work with charities in Wichita. Met him on numerous occasions as Mayor. Hes a good hand-shaker and face but from what the council members Ive spoken with have said is they had to organize him and lead him around like a puppy. Lots of charm. Swell guy. Not much substance.
I dont think in the years Ive worked on events that he has come to? That he has EVER been on time. Not even when important people like Sebelius and Nancy Kassabaum are in attendance.
Oh, but hes a killer pit master and sells great bbq sauce. KC style. Yum!
Ill be voting Laura Kelly.

(34,104 posts)to Laura Kelly. I have known her for a long time, gone door to door for her in previous elections. I have spoken to her about issues before as well. She has done such a great job as a legislator. I will certainly be voting for her. She was also supported by the Equality Coalition. She has my families votes.

(58,727 posts)Why did she vote for Kobachs voter ID law?

(34,104 posts)other than her bad excuse after the fact. Apparently the bill seemed ok until he used it like he did... Or something like that. I guess this is Savatys ace in the hole with her? I hope he has no chance at all. He strikes me as not ready and his past votes on abortion along with his fake "good old boy" tactics turn me right off.

(73,630 posts)Here's my suggestion: Frank Accavitti Jr.
Unfortunately, there are too many gawdamned GOPrs in this district.
But I'm voting for Frank anyway.

(29,673 posts)We have Renee Hoagenson and Hallie Thompson running in the primary. Either would be commendable candidates but I prefer Renee win the primary while Hallie finishes her doctorate in plant biology and uses it to run for state office in two years.
