(58,724 posts)Obviously there weren't polls like we have today (and Trump is BS-ing as per usual) but the truth is that Lincoln was not all that popular while in office.
His greatness was appreciated more and more in the years and decades after we was killed.

Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Jawja (Georgia), Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, and parts of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, and West Virginia (which broke away from Virginia during the conflict).
Attention, idiot-in-chief: There was NO poll back then, but even if there had been, there was this minor matter called the CIVIL WAR going on.
