Yesterday I listened to a crazy homeless man and a Trumpie. Guess which one was saner.

So I was at a thing where various people were talking about their stories and their outlooks, and one of them was a homeless man who did not appear to be of sound mind. He gave his name as Yahweh, and had difficulty with stuff like sticking to appropriate topics at appropriate times. But the basic gist of what he was saying was sensible and grounded in reality.

The Trumpie is a guy I've known for years. He's not a low-information redneck, he's a voracious reader who I would previously have taken as a leftist. And his Trumpism has gotten worse: a year ago, he had the decency to be disappointed at Trump's empty promises not coming true, and made excuses that he'd been "rolled" by Congressional republicans. But now, despite still taking pride in being very well informed about current events, he's got no regrets at all: he says the news is all great, America is going totally in the right direction, and "Trump is kicking so much ass." And he threw in that "Russia is no threat to anybody."

So yeah, an apparently schizophrenic bum has a stronger attachment to reality than someone who starts believing Trump.

Nah, if he were schizophrenic and homeless, that might be an improvement. paulkienitz Jul 2018 #3

and the people who idolize him are required to have less of grasp of reality than he does.
