If a President stands next to Vladimir Putin and betrays our country - the country he is supposed to represent, does it really matter?
If he conspires and colludes, with same adversary, to assist him in his campaign against his political opponent, doesn't everyone do it?
If his son, his namesake, meets with Russians - who promised "dirt" - in the Trump Tower, what's the problem?
If this President then assists his son in making a false statement about what was discussed with these Russians, isn't that something that any father would do??
If a former attorney and "fixer" makes a public statement that the President also knew about the meeting before it took place, although he has denied it at every turn, does that change anything?
"So, what's the big deal?", Trump supporters are now asking. "Everyone has done it", they say.
I fear this assault upon the truth and upon our sensibilities will numb America against its better self. At this time, I feel that we must stand with our laws and our Constitution and the institutions that uphold those laws. The right to vote must be a sacred right for our democracy.
The rule of law cannot bend to the shrill chants of the powerful and their sycophants. It must hold its ground.
So, what's the big deal?
