It is imperative that the 2020 Democratic nominee be able to speak to and attract voters from our younger generation. They correctly want a change from established career politicians (that Trump has routinely beat time and time again).

Because he has something to gain.

Trump never comments on Avenatti because he's scared of him.

I don't think Avenatti is qualified to be president, but he is great at media.

We need someone with experience in government and someone who has been vetted by going through several elections.

But we also need someone young.

There's nothing wrong with being a "career politician." Politics is a profession. Being president requires extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of managing a complex government. How does Congress work? What are its rules? How does the vast and complex executive branch work? How are the conflicting functions and interests of the branches of government reconciled? I want an experienced professional surgeon to operate on me and I want an experienced professional pilot to fly my airplane. Trump didn't win "time and time again," he won a single election and he did it just barely and with the help of the Russians and the mistakes of Comey and by appealing to racism and xenophobia, not because he wasn't a career politician. And look at what a complete goat-fuck he's made of things - because he's an amateur who has no idea how the government works. He's Exhibit A in the argument for not electing another non-politician.

No offense to Avenatti but he's a celebrity lawyer with no government experience. Would he be better than Trump? Sure, but so would I, and so would my cat. Being better than Trump is a ridiculously low bar. The Democratic Party has a deep bench of experienced people who would be far better suited to the presidency than a publicity-loving trial lawyer who has never held any elected office.

The weird thing about "qualifications' is that in the state of our national political environment, qualifications are not the decisive issue at the moment (to a large portion of the electorate). I know HRC got robbed, but still, she was eminently more qualified than the guy squatting in the White House, but guess what? Strange times may call for strange measures.

he shifted into this lane of presidential campaigning. For himself.

He's a strong, ardent voice. But if he wants to get into politics? Why doesn't he run for a state race or go for a Senate seat? Oh no. Only he, Avenatti, can save us.

Sound familiar???

It should because that schtick started the current nightmare we're living through.

I suggest Mr. Avenatti stick to lawyering and stop casting shade on leading Dem contenders. If he wants to help? Start pumping the airways for a Democratic sweep in November.

Otherwise, just stand down. Fame is fleeting, sir. Enjoy it while you can.

Avenatti may generally be well-intentioned, but if you want to get into politics, don't take the royal road.

I'd vote for Cynthia Nixon over Trump.

Avenatti isn't that much of a stretch. I'd prefer him over Howard Schultz, and he'll be running.
