Trump seems to think that he "invented" a clever phrase: "Trump derangement syndrome". Of course there was first a "Bush derangement syndrome" and then an "Obama derangement syndrome", but Trump's phrase is now somehow original.
TDS is defined as the mental condition of someone who has been driven insane by their obsessive hatred of Trump and is willing to abandon all logic and common sense in their constant criticism of all he says and does. (Are you nauseous yet?)
But, what if, like most things in Trump world, this definition has things "bassackward"? Suppose that all that Trump says and does IS really screwed up and, therefore, is rightly and reasonably criticized? That would mean that those who condone and even applaud all his words and deeds are the ones who are "deranged".
Opposing virtually everything Trump proposes is the very definition of "common sense".

Those who've adopted extreme political views typically have a powerful need to see themselves as normal and as good and righteous, instead of as the dysfunctional and usually nasty whackadoodles they are.

It's just this combined with Trump's cult of personality.
