of being assassinated by Russian friends of Trump. Whether they'd use a bloody public shooting or a more discreet polonium tea party would make little difference to Paul---either way, he dies. Or, so the theory goes.
But, maybe I've watched too many movies. Doesn't the mob always play it safe and "rub out" anyone who MIGHT squeal---or change their mind about cooperating with "the G"? And, in "Saving Private Ryan", when the Germans riddled the apparently dead body of a US Army messenger, Tom Hanks explains "We do the same thing. The message survives as long as there is breath in the body."
It would seem to me that, on the street or in a cell, they will get to him if they want to. "The evidence survives as long as there is breath in the body". But, his best chance might be the publicity---notoriety---he'd get from putting Trump et al in prison. Being in the public eye might shield himfor at least a few years.

(7,410 posts)Hes a target now and in the future for the rest of his existence. He owes tens of millions to oligarchs with NO WAY TO PAY THEM OFF. He can show loyalty to the oligarchs by shielding them from more exposure, but thats small potatoes in comparison to tens of millions of money owed with no way to pay the interest, no less the principle.

(110,950 posts)...he could not then take the Fifth. He would have to answer questions from the prosecution. That would be more dangerous for Trump than letting the trial drag on and on and on...

(13,237 posts)and wouldnt he immediately leave the country? So the threat of having to testify would be irrelevant at that point?
