Public Policy Polling:A new survey by Public Policy Polling finds that Democratic candidate Danny OConnor is closing in on Republican Troy Balderson in a preview of the upcoming special election in Ohios 12th Congressional District. Results of the matchup initially show Balderson leading OConnor, 48-44, but after learning about OConnors refusal to take contributions from corporate special interests groups and Baldersons acceptance of these contributions, the gap between Danny OConnor and Troy Balderson tightened to a 1-point margin, 47-48. Among Ohio CD 12 constituents who say they are certain to vote, OConnor leads Balderson in the initial head-to-head, 47-46. OConnor retains and expands this lead among Ohioans who are certain to vote in the informed matchup, receiving 49% of the vote compared to 46% who support Balderson

(3,781 posts)And they really prove that the Republicans have NOTHING other than scare tactics. The latest attack ads call O'Connor "Dishonest Danny O'Connor," and essentially just shout the name Nancy Pelosi over and over again. "Dishonest Danny O'Connor would vote for NANCY PELOSI to be the Speaker of the House!!! (Insert sound of woman screaming)." "Dishonest Danny O'Connor wants OPEN BORDERS!!!" "Dishonest Danny O'Connor wants to RAISE YOUR TAXES!!!" You know, the standard crap Republicans spew just in general when they've got nothing else.
The thing of it is, this district is heavily gerrymandered and has a LOT of racist hillbilly types living in it (which is why Pat Tiberi held that district for so long). The fact that O'Connor is even remotely close speaks to how real the blue wave actually is.

(6,373 posts)The Republican noise machine was very good at making Obama and Hillary out to be boogymen that drove conservatives to the polls. Pelosi hasn't had the same impact.
