I have no idea. I stumbled across this post on Twitter, from a guy claiming some expertise in this matter.
I'll let him speak for himself here:

(6,420 posts)I mean, a couple months ago when he had his "Eagles fans celebration" clusterfuck, literally no fans showed up so they grabbed a couple hundred congressional interns, sat them down in front of the stage and told them to pretend to be fans.

(6,420 posts)One reporter was tweeting that he asked a dozen of the "fans" there who the Eagles starting QB was in the Super Bowl, and none of them knew. It made it very clear that they were being paid to be there.

(13,162 posts)The filter for "crowd fillers needed" is much too restrictive.
There are all sorts of descriptive for the people who stand around to fill up space depending on who will write the ad, but the term all have in common and is used in the industry is "extras", not "fillers". Most production staff for events, theater, or film will use the term "extras".
BTW Mr. Soros - I know it's been a slow season, but haven't been paid for last quarter's work as a sign-holding extra.

Back in the day, I used to hang out with a couple extras, used to get called out all the time for crowd scenes whenever I didn't have work or duty. Twice I was called out for practice runs where a producer was working out shots and potential snags.
I still got a few calls up into the early 2000's until I got married into an instant family and had the whole "work/family time" dynamic taking up all my days.
Being a crowd scene extra doesn't pay much, but one can fill up extra hours in congenial company or potentially supplement disability/unemployment on it without risking much.
The ads one sees in Craig's List for extras are usually for the free meals or $20 a day gigs. It's the agencies or day labor sites where most non-union folks who just want the occasional extra job get their employment through.

Wouldn't that be awesome!? Take one of his crowds of several thousand, and turn it into several thousand booing....AND getting paid to do it!

(14,911 posts)Remember that the polls say the overwhelming majority of Republicans would enthusiastically vote for Trump a second time, if given the chance. That's an awful lot of people. I know rent-a-crowd services exist, I just don't think they're necessary here. There may be church groups and stuff going to these things together.
