Republican Congressman Scott Perry is touting a fake pro-Israel award apparently given to him by actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in one of his elaborate pranks as a real accomplishment.
Perry, who listed the phony acknowledgement on the Awards and Recognition page of his official campaign website, was given the so-called 70 at 70″ trinket by Cohen who was posing as an employee for the made up Israeli media outlet called Yerushalayim Television for his significant contributions to the State of Israel.
Amazingly, news of Cohens elaborate pranks for his new Showtime series, which include posing as a wounded veteran to sucker Sarah Palin into an interview and asking Dick Cheney to sign a waterboarding kit, have been going viral for weeks now, yet Perry still listed the award on his website today a fact that was reported by ThinkProgress.
The congressmans campaign was contacted for comment on how this mistake happened and if they are planning to remove the fake award from their website, but Mediaite did not receive a response in time for publication.
Perry was not the only unsuspecting Republican figure duped by Cohen with the award, as he also tricked former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice and alleged sexual predator Roy Moore and former GOP lawmaker Joe Walsh with the same bait.
