Sekulow: Obstruction of justice by tweet is absurd

BY MARY TYLER MARCH - 08/05/18 10:06 AM EDT

President Trump's lawyer, Jay Sekulow, on Sunday blasted special counsel Robert Mueller's review of the president's tweets for possible obstruction of justice, calling it "absurd."

"Obstruction of justice by tweet is absurd," Sekulow said on ABC's "This Week." "The president has a First Amendment right to put his opinions out there."

Sekulow's comments come as the president escalates his attack on Mueller's probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

"This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!" Trump tweeted last Wednesday, prompting questions over whether he was issuing a direct order to Sessions or merely stating his "opinion."

Take the advice of their attorneys and keep their fucking mouths shut about such.

But oh, no, not Benedict Donald. His fat, constantly running yap will prove the direct cause of his ruination.

with his negotiating superpower. He is sure this issue will turn on the success of his PR blitz.

Unfortunately, a lot of US voters are easily manipulated by his BS, especially since he is supported by incessant, pervasive propaganda pumped out by state media.

There is nothing to say that a person's First Amendment Right of free speech cannot also be an attempt at obstruction of justice.

It is all a matter of what impact a person's public statements have on an on-going criminal investigation and/or witness/jury tampering.
