(58,724 posts)The Republican does not have a campaign website and has not filed the necessary paperwork to receive donations. He is a crank whose motivation for getting on the ballot was so he can talk about what he believes to be his unfair divorce court ruling. That's basically all he talks about when people try to interview him (which they have mostly given up doing).

(59,264 posts)But she could suffer Crowley's fate if she spends the next two years absent from the district (which is also at risk because of reapportionment/redistricting).

(62,276 posts)I suspect he'll run again in 2 years and win if she keeps playing "rising star" and not actually caring about the district., and that would hamper her aspirations to go for the Senate.
The soon to be former rep that respected his district's voters so much that he sent someone else in his place for one of the Primary debates.
I thought it was a joke the first time I heard about it. Talk about taking things & the voters for granted.
That's out of touch & literally ignoring your people when you can't be bothered to show up for the debate in your district.

(49,410 posts)Ing hasn't a prayer against former Rep. Ed Case.
I'm backing Donna Mercado Kim but Case went in and sucked up all the oxygen.

(1,542 posts)While Case entered the House of Representatives too late to cast a vote on the Iraq War Resolution, he supported the Iraq War throughout his tenure in the House. As late as 2006, he opposed a firm timetable for withdrawal.
Case often sided with Republicans on major tax legislation. He was one of only 34 Democrats (who sided with 196 Republicans) to support reducing the estate tax. He also was one of 15 Democrats (who sided with 229 Republicans) to support lower taxes on investment income.
In 2005, Case voted for Rep. Jeb Hensarling's (R-TX) amendment to eliminate funding for PBS, NPR, and Title X family planning, including money for Planned Parenthood. He was unusual in being the only Democrat to support the amendment, which failed 102320.
And in the first "big" debate of this season, he came out strongly against the concept of Medicare for All, so there is that too...

(62,276 posts)...then what is wrong with that?

(62,276 posts)Going dirty and being completely wrong about her allegations.
Case is probably a shoo in.
Didn't they say that verbatim about AOC?

(1,693 posts)It looks terrible not to spend time in your district getting to know your constituents and their concerns. I don't know of a single House candidate spending as much time OUTSIDE their district campaigning.

(17 posts)Why are you presuming what the people want in her district?
Because there is zero logic to this sham potshot.
If my Rep just won an enthusiastic campaign and made national news in a shocking win, you'd be an idiot to not want her trying to help get other people elected to get more elected officials who are going to support the same agenda for which you and your district elected her to goto Washington to accomplish.
Never mind she's in an airtight district to win, and she's not ditching her duties to her people because she's not even in office yet!
Nevermind the fact that her helping around the country means that come January, she'll have a lot more clout and national name recognition than any other 1st term freshman Congresswoman. Which is a + for your district.
