On Tuesday morning, CNN hosted a panel discussion between a gaggle of former supporters of President Donald Trump who regret their vote and those who are still gung-ho about the Presidents policies and behavior.
One former Trump supporter, Maryse Selit, had some particularly biting words: We have a lot of really I have to be crass about it idiots who voted for him, including myself at one time, she said.
That comment was taken with great offense by a pro-Trumper: Im not an idiot, Arthur Schaper said. It was a wise decision
for working class Americans who are tired of their jobs being taken by illegals.

(23,946 posts)Any menial jobs of which you speak are also only a first step pathway to other jobs...including military service, higher education, manufacturing, etc.

(16,785 posts)But these are jobs people are taking that pay under the table or very low wages. Yet, more in an hour what they make in a day for the same work.
Jealousy that immigrants are turning to the Military, paying their way for Education and better jobs should be an incentive for others to pursue. But they choose to sit and complain, and bitch about their situations, rather than take action to rectify that.
This is an issue that is a double edged sword that needs addressing.

(65,042 posts). . .and not saying your way off base, but aren't a lot of those skilled people coming to america legally under the visa rules?
So, the jobs a guy like that is talking about aren't being dominated by undocumented folks, but those here with the acceptance of the US government.

(24,324 posts)They hate themselves, their own empty lives. lives with no aim, no meaning.. they are empty shells and that is very painful.
So-- they create anger at something else, other humans. Partially because HATE is better than no feeling at all. It makes them feel alive, useful....

(24,226 posts)mastery of English like you, or your work history/experience, and every other advantage you have as a citizen: opportunity for a free education ie HS diploma GED etc, then it's your fault you lost that entry level, hard labor, minimum wage job.
Not a lot of middle level white collar jobs being stolen by a guy who just crossed the border.
