(58,724 posts)In for Chris Matthews, I think.
He's hard to watch (especially for a full hour).

(17,622 posts).hes someone I would want my grand daughters to date ( but they are only 15)...but I would still trust him to take them to the ol prom! He probably drives an old beater Gremlin...safe!

(16,785 posts)I too enjoy Steve Kornaki's enthusiasm for stats. He is a good fill in for hosts because he is not afraid to "go there" and ask the hard questions.

(2,674 posts)I don't understand why all the bad-mouthing of him . The one I find annoying is Chris Mathews.

(13,569 posts)His knowledge of American politics is deep. He's trying to keep up his show, but the fast pace of hosting just isn't for him anymore. He should be moved to a role as a resource, not a host. He probably would be insulted, though.

(28,257 posts)His dialogues on the show are increasingly confused, his handling of guests more and more fumbled. I'm with you---let him be an MSNBC resource, and give his on-air slot to Rachel or some other sharp personality.

(13,569 posts)Tweety also is a type 1 diabetic, and that has affected him over the years. Plus residual malaria effects from his time in the Peace Corps.

(15,035 posts)Back in 2016, he was daily in front of his sliding board showing, state by state, why it was "impossible for Trump to win."
The numbers were impressive. We all "knew" Hilary was going to sweep the election. The idea of Trump having any chance at all was a joke.
Then, election night happened.
Ever since then, anytime I see Kornacki and his big sliding board, I switch the channel.

(5,042 posts)It's like in 2000....people thought they had voted for Gore in Florida. That's why the exit polls were "in error".

(6,377 posts)He's smart and clearly knows his stuff, but every time he's got his big board behind him, you'd think he just chugged a pot of coffee while simultaneously downing a dozen caffeine pills.

(58,785 posts)He often moves too fast for my older brain to follow, but oh well. I can replay if I care to.
He may or may not be more conservative than some of us, as speculated, but I want honest, competent, complete reporting from across the rational, informed range of viewpoints anyway.
And if I don't always like what he has to say, let's face it, it would hard to be a numbers reporter and not displease people with analyses we don't want to hear. Sometimes the Republicans are doing better.

(7,113 posts)...and I'm always happy to see Steve is subbing on "Hardball."
No one is harder to watch than Matthews. "Hardball" should be followed by a show providing the ends of all the guests' comments we didn't get to hear because Chris keeps interrupting everyone with his pointless, inane interjections.
Yes, Steve is a huge dork with quirky mannerisms, but I keep hoping MSNBC will give him Matthew's hour for keeps.

(13,776 posts)I like him personally, but I just don't understand how he still gets guests. He talks over them, he switches topics in the middle of their answers... it's so frustrating to watch.

(23,340 posts)Tweety should be on Fox. They like their hosts to interrupt the guests, to talk over them, to belittle them.
