Decent Job, Health Care, Clean Environment, Good Retirement Way Too Far Left For GOP. Want Misery.

Democrats are warned to NOT GO TOO FAR LEFT. Every day you hear the meme that the Democrats are going too far left. That they are actually Marxist Communist using code words who will take you was money and give it to lazy African Americans, Hispanics and illegal aliens who come here for free stuff. The MSM goes along. And conservatives, RW and hate radio in particular just scream and scream this this meme loudly 24/7. Trump in his rallies exacerbates the hatred and plans to increase these hate session as much as possible before November.

The GOP and its rich allies believe that they, the job creators, should be entirely free of taxes. They also believe that the should keep all their money because the working class Americans should be shouldering all the burden and be grateful that these job creators ARE GIVING THEM JOBS. Of course these jobs will NOT pay the rent or support a living. They are like a swimmer whose head is just barely above the water.

1. Absolutely 100% Spot On.

My right wing relatves' most common complaint - the bulk of their too-high taxes are sucked up by lazy minorities who feel entitled to getting free stuff. Therefore taxation is theft.

2. You might be on to something

Consider the significant percentage of baby boomers approaching retirement age with little if anything saved. That impending reality is beginning to hit them, and they're scared for their future.

So they blame minorities, the handicapped, and others who are believed to be favored by government programs -- instead of accepting their responsibility for their own lack of preparation for a comfortable retirement. They are ripe for exploitation by politicians who voice those prejudices.

4. They Kept Voting For Politicians Who Weakened/Ended Social Contract With Employers.

The boomers as well as others who voted for the GOP ended up putting in politicians who gave employers and the rich all the marbles. After Reagan job security, unions, decent wages, access to health care came under attack and the entire labor structure was sabotaged to be replaced by jobs that do not pay the bills for a large portion of the populations. The rich, corporations and Wall Street gains total economic superiority.

Workers were sold on multiple careers, endless schooling, entrepreneurship, and other promises of the wealth of the new economy. They were sold on an economy made up of "uber jobs" where you would create wealth by your own means as long as there WERE NO GOVERNMENT RULES. Regulations would get in the way of you right to gaining wealth. The trouble is they unleashed a gauntlet economy where only the strongest and most ruthless survive.

We now have an economy where you get to carry the entire load. If you do not make it in the work marathon and fail you probably die in the long run.

3. Economics as a moral compass

The right wing basically believes that they less successful you are monetarily, the more evidence there is of a moral failing on your part. They believe that society should discourage if not down right punish moral failings. Therefor the social safety net should be painful and punitive.

It's my old joke about the difference between the democrats and republicans.

Republicans wake up every morning worried that someone, somewhere is getting something they don't deserve.
