Steve Schmidt just spit some truth on MSNBC.

I am paraphrasing.

He lost the popular vote by 3,000,000 votes. He won the Electoral College by 78,000 votes. He is less popular today than the day he was elected. There is nothing to be afraid of

They did not just get into those systems to tell their friends they did it.

I believe votes were changed in the last election, though many dispute the idea.

I have no doubt attempts will be made to change votes in all future elections. And even those who don't believe it has happened before MUST admit that its a distinct possibility for the future.

They did not go through all that effort, just to lose by 60K votes spread over a few states.

There is a reason everybody, including her, thought Hillary had it locked up. Even with the Comey surprise.

And for those forgetting, it happened in 2004 as well, with that last Unpopular repub president.

changes minds. 70,000 ( a small number divided by three states) dumbass people who are too stupid to realize that they were the recipients of a good game of mind f*** (PsyOps style) is all that was needed to change their minds or steer them to Jill.

If all those stories about Trump with Stormy Daniels and Trump paying for his mistress' abortion had come out before the election instead of being squashed, it might have caused some of the evangelical voters to stay home instead of voting Trump and maybe makes the difference.

(Now, I think they're happy with the RW judges he's appointed, but they were not quite so sure prior to the election)

and gave us Neil Gorusch and a slew of RW judges, they were happy.

Plus, the attempt at the transgender ban made them happy.

It was only 77 or 78,000 votes across three states, and I know PA has a pretty good sized evangelical vote, as does Michigan.

The U.S. President is elected by the Electoral College, not by popular vote. The EC has been gamed in the past and is vulnerable to gaming in the future. All it takes is a little voter suppression, a little gerrymandering, more demagoguery, and voila! The gamester wins despite losing the popular vote.

I'm always aware of presidential incumbency, no matter what it looks like two years out. Only Jimmy Carter has lost in this scenario in more than a century, if an incumbent's party has held the White House for only one term.

Benefit of a doubt. Independents tend to shift back, no matter who they favored in the prior midterm.

Steve Schmidt is focusing on current variables. I tend to ignore details like that in favor of the wide scope. IMO, it's generally best to ignore today when making forecasts. Today is remarkably fragile.

To defeat Donald Trump in 2020 we need his approval rating to be no higher than it is today. Trump will have no shame in unleashing the full Roy Cohn playbook in 2020, demeaning and twisting our nominee, no matter who it is.

He remains CIC, is still nominating nut case judges that Grassley and McTurtle tell him to, and has apparently just blessed the EPA's industry-inspired ruling that asbestos is suddenly no longer carcenogenic.

The USA does not have a parliamentary system. If we had, a no-confidence vote could have been held a year ago.
