If they do it often it isn't a mistake it's just their behavior......RICK GATES, on why he stole from PAUL MANAFORT: "In essence, I was living beyond my means I regret it I'm taking responsibility for it. I made a mistake."
@kenvogel
I just asked KEVIN DOWNING whether RICK GATESs remorse & his matter-of-fact admission of his lies & misdeeds had effectively inoculated him against the defense's efforts to cast him as an untrustworthy narrator. Im going to wait. Well see what the jury says.

(51,593 posts)2. This crossed my mind too.
Manafort lived so far beyond his means that making $4 or 5 million a year still wasn't enough to keep him out of debt. He and Gates have said they didn't know how much debt they had since they didn't keep track of their personal finances that closely. Huh?!? They didn't make simple "mistakes" and now they have learned their "lesson". That is BS.

translates to not taking a vacation, not buying too much wine, not going out to eat.
