216,816 number for the general election? Because falling just short of that in a primary or special election isn't necessarily bad. I could see where a number of folks who know that this race is going to be back on in November wouldn't bother to show up just to elect someone for two or three months.

In 2014, there were 221k votes cast. Tiberi(R) won over the Democrat 150k to 62k. 9k were cast for the independent.

In 2018 special, 202k votes were cast - but its almost a dead heat. That means approximately 50k Rs switched or stayed home, and approx 40k more cast votes for the Dem.

That’s a good trend for a district with 80 years of R domination.

Edit to add - and it was a special election. To get even close to the 2014 mid term number, with such an uptick for Dems, is frankly astounding. Blue wave baby.
