That compares to 67 percent cast for GOP candidates in August 2010, the last primary with an open governor's seat and contested races for both Republicans and Democrats.
Voter enthusiasm was so high in Oakland County that some precincts ran out of ballots.
Election workers in communities including Ferndale, Berkley, Oak Park and Farmington Hills had to scramble to print more ballots so everyone could vote.

(2,275 posts)Good job, friends, but we can still do better. Turnout was still less than many other countries. Don't assume the blue wave will simply carry through to November of its own accord.
Keep pressing on and rattle your own networks to join you in raising national consciousness.
Keep campaigning hard.
Plan to go door-to-door.
Let's hit a home run in November so we can start building a REAL democracy in this aching land.

(7,888 posts)I agree. The ball game is not over.
The Red State propaganda machine tries to steal the famous John Paul Jones quote, "I have not yet begun to fight." Democrats are proving we know how to stand up and fight for our Republic and the integrity of our elections. We are not the traitors embracing tsar putin and his band of thieves and oligarchs.

(6,231 posts)Also we have two ballot measures that should bring out voters in November. We will be voting to make recreational pot legal and to end gerrymandered districts by setting up a commission to draw the lines. Go Blue!

(15,552 posts)Many of us still believe and rightfully so, that Hillary won Michigan. We're going to take back this state and make it blue again!
Get out the vote, Dems!!!
Elections in this country have never been pure, but I too believe that HRC won Michigan. At one time candidates would go into bars, buy drinks and get folks to vote for them. November 2016 stunk to high heaven.

(6,231 posts)A candidate has to be able to win state wide. Whitmer can win state wide. We need young progressives, but a candidate from the far left or right is not how to win elections.
