She didn't turn it down for moral reasons...she turned it down because it wasn't enough. cbdo2007 Aug 2018 #3
That silence doesn't come cheap. It's amazing that Trump doesn't pay any of that shit himself. TheBlackAdder Aug 2018 #4
There's a "prisoners' dilemma" aspect to this - "blackmailers' dilemma"? muriel_volestrangler Aug 2018 #5

I'm sure she counter offered with something ridiculous and they said no, and she did the math and someone offered her a book deal for x amount.

All of these people are money hungry scam artists, so it's all a game of who can scam the best.

If they all keep quiet and take the regular payments, they might get paid until Nov 2020. They might get more after that from the RNC or other people, if they're implicated. But if one of them takes the chance to rat on Trump, they get a good book deal which will get them more in the short term. But if their dirt isn't enough to impeach him, perhaps the interest in the book will wane. But if it is, the book could sell millions. And then what if another regime member writes their book first???

Decisions, decisions ...

And now he wants her -- a federal witness against him -- to come back to work at the WH.
