He is throwing his hat into the 2020 ring. Is it good idea?

(3,425 posts)he should put together a policy program, with suitable (all democratic) advisors before addressing individual policies directly with the media. Those early sound bites come back to haunt you sometimes. I am not sure how I feel about it yet, I will have to learn more.

(12,344 posts)He is not really any kind of "White Knight." He's a publicity hound who hitched a ride on a good case. But I'm not interested in someone who is no more qualified than Trump, just a lot smarter.

Does he have the diplomacy to be president? I don't think so. Especially after the jerk face in office now. We need to raise the bar.

(9,350 posts)I do not trust Michael Avenatti. How do we know he is not a Trump agent who is just trying to get enough Democrats to support him in order to throw the 2020 election to Trump.

The fact anyone even remotely thinks we need another attention grubbing jerk is beyond me.

(17,623 posts)Although I enjoy his call out of Trump and his basic tenacity, I think we could have learned something from a non politician in the White House. I'm not saying there is not a time and place for a newcomer, but it will not be the time when the current occupant's crap needs to be cleaned up.

(6,377 posts)He's been talking big talk for a long time now, but nothing ever happens. I know the wheels of justice move slowly, but still. You can only talk so much and not have any results for so long before people start leaving.

(29,098 posts)It's way too early to seriously consider anyone's effectiveness as a winning candidate but I don't think it's wise to dismiss him or his method of communication. His no holds barred method of attacking Trump is certainly entertaining and does no harm in the long run that I can see for Democrats. The reality is any Democratic candidate is going to be hyper scrutinized by both parties and no matter who gets the nomination Republicans will go after them with a vengeance.

(7,014 posts)His speech in front of the Whitehouse, was hackneyed and a bit flat, IMO.
I wouldn't be so skeptical if he didn't couch his run in criticizing the inadequacy of current, go to Democrats.
He should start a PAC instead.

(22,037 posts)Mr. Avenatti... not so much.
Still, I love the stress he's brought to Trump & Co. He's shined a bright light on the personal corruption of Trump and his so-called lawyer, Cohen.
But Avenatti for president? How's it working out having an amateur politician sit in the Oval Office?

We shouldn't tar Avenatti for being an amateur. He has many skills and virtues. I do not think he is corrupt.
