How China Got Sri Lanka to Cough Up a Port

Under heavy pressure and after months of negotiations with the Chinese, Sri Lanka’s new government handed over the port and 15,000 acres of land around it for 99 years in December.

The transfer gave China control of territory just a few hundred miles off the shores of a rival, India, and a strategic foothold along a critical commercial and military waterway.

The case is one of the most vivid examples of China’s ambitious use of loans and aid to gain influence around the world ...

This is yet another example a global powerhouse in the making. No doubt about it. China, like all nations, has its challenges. But it also has lofty ambitions.

what happened to our Ports during the Bush/Cheney years. Dubai and UEA as well as the Saudi's took over our Ports. Notice a trend!

privatization of the Public Infrastructure for PROFIT. If it was not for the Long-shore-man's Union,there would be people working the Docks as slaves or for sub minimum wages . Same thing relates to the Privatized Toll Roads,minimum wage jobs with zero security.
