Why was Manigault able to bring a recording device to the sit room? Why was Kelly using the sit room

for a termination meeting? Why are there fucking audio recordings of West Wing personnel floating around like the little styrofoam packing peanuts three weeks after you've unpacked your boxes? Are staff routinely recording conversations even in supposedly secure areas? Does anyone have any idea how much information has been compromised by this? How the hell have these morons managed not to kill us all already?

He wasn't in the situation room. Probably in the building. Maybe John Kelly knows why? emulatorloo Aug 2018 #4

At least that’s my assumption.

To me it is weird he took her into the Situation Room rather than his office. She says he locked her in and told her she couldn’t leave (to consult w her husband who was outside the door, etc)

He doesn't work for the White House. The Situation Room is located within a secure area, so why was he allowed access to that at all?

Anyone used to dealing with serial liars is going to do what's needed to protect themselves. If I were working in the Trump administration, I'd have recordings of all my interactions to prevent them from lying about what was said or promised.

Though in this White House, I'm not sure why they can't just routinely ask the FSB for a transcript .

Yeah, I learned early on to write up meetings/phone calls and email them to everyone involved to avoid selective recall issues later. It took a silly amount of time but it had to be done.

Um, are not staff supposed to check all electronic devices in a secure repository before entering the Situation Room?

As someone who spent a fair amount of time in the Situation Room, I can’t even begin to wrap my head around how insane this is

Last month I described President Trump as "the worst security risk in US history." If staff are carrying recording devices into the Situation Room, that epithet applies to his entire White House

If Omarosa carried for example a cellphone into the Situation Room, then not only did she record conversations there, but so potentially has any country or criminal organization that thought to hack her phone

What other security breaches are occurring in this crazy White House? An honest Congress would demand hearings immediately into this vital question
