White nationalists met with queer dance party for 'Unite the Right' rally
Hundreds of protesters and LGBTQ activists held a dance party to protest the first anniversary of the deadly "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Va.
The protesters and activists gathered on Sunday afternoon at DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C., to hold an event to counter protest the Unite the Right 2 rally with dancing and confetti.
Nazis and white supremacists are coming into our town after having killed individuals, after having terrorized communities like in Charlottesville, Firas Nasr, one of the events organizers, told The Hill, " so we want to send a really clear message that we will not tolerate their hate, their bigotry, their racism, their xenophobia in our city and in our country.
Nasr said the event, #ResisDance, is was organized by a collective of queer and trans organizers under Shut it Down D.C., which is coalition of different organizations and local groups based in the DC metropolitan area.
