Interesting afternoon. A cop pointed an assault rifle at me.

My sweetie & I were at his house watching golf when we heard a few dogs barking, which was unusual for the neighborhood. A few minutes later, I saw a man walking through Sweetie's backyard. I just caught a glimpse of his back and didn't think much of it. Soon, Sweetie's FB messenger app started blowing up from a couple of neighbors informing him that police were involved in a car chase. The suspect had crashed his vehicle a couple of blocks from Sweetie's house & had fled on foot. A few minutes minutes later, Sweetie's backyard was filled with 5 cops. I went to the screen door and began to tell them about the guy I'd seen when one of the cops who looked to be about 15, looked startled & all of a sudden pointed an assault rifle at me. I immediately put my hands up & said I belonged there. An older cop told him to relax & I then continued to describe the man I saw and yup, it was him. I don't scare easily, but I admit that did startle me. I can see how fucking easy it is for innocent civilians to be shot for no good reason. I'm just glad I'm a 63 year old woman and not a twentysomething African American man.

Oh, the fugitive's crime? Murder? Assault? Nope. "Retail fraud" from the local Kohl's store.

if you can't use it. If GOP had their way, the military would have it's weapons, the cops would have theirs, and every other social program would be gutted to pay for it.

That is undue force for a retail crime. What the hell is wrong with law enforcement these days?

...long story short, I'll think twice about dialing 911. Oh and I'm white. If this shit as bad for me, what others with skin darker than mine go through...
