Face Book just hammered me (for the first time in years) for requesting something less than 10

new friends of a friend with whom I have done community volunteer work and who has been my Face Book friend for about a year.

Think I'll just take a FB break for a while.

What do you think?

It just made me mad, but . . .

All better now. I talked to my friend and he didn't do it, just has some Reich Wingers in his "friend" file, like lots of us do.

also had something similar happen. She was trying to get more friends for one of those games and was told she was requesting to many friends. Don't know if it was FB or the game creators.

unFriend the Right-wingers he had picked up somehow.

I almost never request friends; just noticed that this friend of mine was down, so I thought I'd help out by maybe getting some of his friends to share some of the good stuff that I post. Bitches turned me in!!!

I feel better now that I know he didn't know them. He even said my posts help him a lot. He's a food revolution guy; that's his actual work. I met him around the Occupy and we need to stick together.

It really annoyed me that FB wouldn't let me remote post from out on the web like I do a lot, kept telling me that I couldn't access that page and I had to go read TOS or something, because I'm a bad girl. I do push the envelope Comment-wise, no rudeness, but also not too concerned with being too politically correct, so some Right Wingers in friends' friend files have probably noticed me.

All better now.

not sure considering I left facebook a long time ago.... but my guess is that they made 10 friend requests to friends of a facebook friend with whom they have done community service with. Either the friends made a complaint, the community service facebook friend made a complaint or there is a limit of how many friends you can collect in a certain timeframe.

& then they wouldn't let me remote post from out on the web, kept saying I didn't have access to FB post.

I finally relented and clicked on their dumb TOS and then clicked away from it right away to go talk to my friend. He didn't complain. He likes my posts better than most stuff he sees and he said he'd been intending to go through his friend file and look at people's walls, so he can find the Right Wingers and make decisions about them.

I also have loads of "friends" I have little or no idea how I got them. Don't request friendship very often, so this little experience surprised me. I'm kind of out there politically on FaceBook, for that crowd anyway, not so much compared to around here.

Anyway, all better now that I talked to my friend. And did my time in the corner, so I can remote post to FB again.

And FB dinged me, too earlier this year because of a complaint from an old friend who mysteriously blocked me.

My advice? Shrug it off.

As abhorrent as FB's customer service is, at least they're trying to keep spammers and dishonest people off the service.

But always remember this - when someone tells you, "But it's free! You have no right to complain!"
Tell them that the data that you provide FB EVERYDAY more than offsets that "free membership".

FB, by rights, should be paying US.

...if you're a pair of hiking boots, you remain mute. At FacePlant you are a demographic subset information unit -- a biological product assessment module who provides a service by allowing everything you say and do online within the confines of the FacePlant environment to be read, assessed and categorized by others, freely I might add, so that this ''activity information'' (which is viewed as valuable for some reason), can be sold to those willing to part with cash for it. Said products who don't achieve algorithmically derived points of interest or saleability in various categories, lose the best shelf space. Thus, your hammering I presume.

- While corporations are people too my friend, not so products.......

''Ask yourself who is paying for Facebook. Usually the people who are paying are the customers. Advertisers are the ones who are paying. If you don’t know who the customer of the product you are using is, you don’t know what the product is for. We are not the customers of Facebook, we are the product. Facebook is selling us to advertisers. You are Facebook’s product, not customer. Break away, it feels real good without the white noise and the selling of your personal information.''
