Long relationship ends with dog's death

Harry never had a bad day at work.

Whether it was sniffing through the rubble of the 9/11 World Trade Center attack, chasing down cop killer Ralph "Bucky" Phillips or putting on K-9 demonstrations at county fairs, the State Police dog lived to work.

"As soon as I'd start putting on my uniform, he'd run around the house and run to the door. He wanted to go to work," former State Trooper Jeff Kaduc said of Harry, his "partner" for eight years before they both retired in 2008. "It was like working with your best friend every day."

But their long friendship on and off the job ended last Wednesday when Harry died of cancer at a Southtowns animal hospital.

If a pit bull was trained to attack humans on command, how many tears would be spilled?

On e other hand, I love dogs and cats, and mourn their passing.
