FLIPPABLE: Julie Henszey for WI-SD05

Julie Henszey wields a compass, both literally and figuratively. She is a corporate trainer, executive coach, and outdoor adventure guide who helps her clients navigate over rough terrain. Now she is taking those navigation skills to the Wisconsin State Capitol (Learn More).

A former Iowa farm girl, Julie brought her young family to Wisconsin in 1995. She worked as a librarian and trainer for Marquette University for almost two decades before starting her own business. She is currently devoting herself full-time to her campaign for State Senate District 5.

Working her whole life, Julie has also mopped floors in a neonatal ICU, tended soybean fields, and worked on a factory assembly line.

Always seeking adventure, Julie leads an annual backcountry trip to the Grand Canyon, has completed 87 sprint triathlons, and has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. She is a certified Wilderness First Responder.

Julie currently serves on leadership teams with Indivisible and Citizen Action of Wisconsin. She has a bachelor’s degree from Luther College and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois, and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Iceland.

In the Senate, Julie intends to be an inclusive leader who embraces diversity and sees value in all voices. She will fight for everyone to have access to affordable healthcare. She will vote to protect the environment with clean air and water for all. And she will focus on job creation that leads down a road to prosperity for all, supporting small businesses and a strong public education system. That especially includes more funding for locally-led public K-12 schools and world-class public university, community college, and technical college systems accessible to every Wisconsinite.

Julie is married, has two grown children, and lives in Wauwatosa. Her husband Michael is the Sales and Marketing Director at Urban Milwaukee and was once a co-owner of both Metro Milwaukee Weekly, a news source, and A.D. Productions, a recording studio for commercials and music.
